Yago and Carlo Muñoz are a talented directing, producing and writing duo. Yago began his career as a recognized young actor and musical artist; he later ventured successfully into directing music videos. Carlo, after studying literature and film post production, worked in the world of film and television and began collaborating with his brother to form a complete team of creators.
In 2019 they received international acclaim for their first film called PAPER BOATS, which they directed, wrote, produced and post-produced together.
The film debuted at HBO's New York Latino Film Festival in 2019, where it won Best Film. It was an official selection at the NYC Indie and Foreign Film Festival, Los Angeles Indie Film Festival, Cambridge Film Festival (UK), New Vision International Film Festival (Netherlands), Barcelona Human Rights Film Festival and the Guanajuato International Film Festival. Paper Boats had its commercial release on Amazon Prime USA in 2021.
After their debut, they formed the production company Desierto Films and began writing their own content as well as adapting intellectual properties for film and television in both Spanish and English. They have also produced several music videos and short films that have won awards at national and international festivals such as "Chica de Fábrica" by Selma Cervantes, which is part of the official selection of the Sundance Film Festival 2023.
In 2021 they were finalists in the Sundance Film Festival's Screenwriting Lab with their English-language screenplay Under the Lemon Tree and in 2022 they won IMCINE's direct writing support stimulus with their Spanish-language drama Adentro.
