Ximena Escalante / Writer

Playwright, screenwriter, director, teacher, Script Doctor.

Recognized playwright with international awards and distinctions, her plays have been presented in America, Europe and Asia, translated and published in more than seven languages, with outstanding literary and theatrical criticism.

She is the creator of the series Niñas promedio, and Las malcriadas. Her writing for TV includes: Como ama una mujer -produced by Jennifer Lopez-, El encanto del águila -Televisa-, Corazón partido -TV Azteca-, Todo por nada -Canal 11-, and has been part of rooms for Argos, Lemon Films, and BTF.

He has co-written feature films with Antonio Serrano and Alfonso Arau, the adaptations of his plays La Tequilera, Grito, and a documentary about Suzanne Pearlman.

She has a master's degree and doctorate in knowledge about subjectivity and violence, themes that have permeated the writing of her texts. She has been director of the Playwriting and Screenwriting Career for Argos-casAzul and the Playwriting and Screenwriting Clinic in Oaxaca. As Script Doctor she works for Imcine, and multiple production companies and screenwriters.

She is currently developing TV projects for Media Pro, Disney, TDO Media, Canal Once and is preparing the staging of the trilogy Éxtasis, where she recreates her fascination for Greek myths. In December 2022 she will receive the Bellas Artes Medal for her career as a playwright and screenwriter.
