Miguel Alejandro León / New Voices

Born in Torreón, Coahuila, he arrived in Mexico City at the age of 18 to study Political Science. He trained professionally as an actor and playwright at the Escuela de Escritores de la SOGEM, Casazul and the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras of the UNAM, completing his studies in philosophy and specializing his narrative work for girls, boys and young people. His first work, Monstruo Feo, premiered at the age of 21 under the direction of Miguel Santa Rita. For this, he received a scholarship from the Festival de la Joven Dramaturgia, in which authors from Latin America participated and in which he made his way to new stages in subsequent years with his plays: Quisiera cerrar los ojos, Albercada, Añoranza en Clave de Sol and Papá está solo, winner of the fiscal stimulus for creation EFIARTES. He adapted Verónica Gerber's novel of the same name, Conjunto Vacío, which premiered in 2020. In that same year, he participated in the television program "Aprende en Casa" in which he worked more than 300 hours of transmission for girls and boys who attended classes remotely during the pandemic, concentrating his work as a scriptwriter in which he combined cognitive techniques for pedagogy and entertainment based on the performing arts. Different media have highlighted Miguel as an intelligent author who addresses sensitive issues with good humor and without fuss, bringing viewers closer to issues involving addictions, violence and abuse of power between people who love each other. He is currently a beneficiary of FONCA's Jóvenes Creadores program.
