Marina Stavenhagen / Writer

Screenwriter and film cultural promoter. Throughout her career she has directed or been part of the coordination, advisory and programming teams of several film festivals. Between 2006 and 2012, she was General Director of the Mexican Institute of Cinematography. She has participated as a tutor in the Ibero-American Film Project Development Course organized by Ibermedia, Fundación Carolina and SGAE; as well as in the NOKA Mentoring Project, by Cine Euskadi, and in the Emergente CineLab in Madrid. Since 2017 she coordinates the Feature Film Screenwriting Lab jointly organized by the Sundance Institute and the Morelia International Film Festival, and is in charge of the Indigenous Peoples Forum of the same festival.

He wrote the feature films "En medio de la nada" (Hugo Rodríguez, 1992); "De la calle" (Gerardo Tort, 2001), for which he received numerous awards. He also co-wrote the screenplay for the films; "La última noche" (Alejandro Gamboa, 2005); "Viaje redondo" (Gerardo Tort, 2009) and "Alguien ha visto a Lupita?" (Gonzalo Justiniano, 2012); & "Nahui" (Gerardo Tort, 2018); and the television series; "Cien años con Juan Rulfo"; (Juan Carlos Rulfo, 2017).

In addition to having written several short films, she was scriptwriter and producer of the feature documentary "La guerrilla y la esperanza: Lucio Cabañas" (Gerardo Tort, 2005) and wrote the documentaries "Los murmullos del silencio" and "Lopon".

He recently finished writing a documentary for the production company "Animal de Luz".

He is a member of the Mexican Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMACC); the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and Tinta Escritores Audiovisuales y Cinematográficos México, AC.
