José María de Tavira

Prominent actor of the contemporary scene.

He began to get involved in theatrical productions at a very early age, with acting as a natural talent. He studied drama for three years at the Royal Holloway, London, and upon his return he began to work constantly in film.

One of his first works in the film industry was in "La Máscara del Zorro" (Dir. Martin Campbell), where he played the young Alejandro Murrieta 'El Zorro', sharing credits with Anthony Hopkins. Later he would be part of popular national films such as "Cansada de Besar Sapos" (Dir. Jorge Colón); "Enemigos Íntimos" (Dir. Fernando Sariñana); "Arráncame la Vida" (Dir. Roberto Sneider), film adaptation of the homonymous novel by Ángeles Mastretta in which he shares credits with Daniel Giménez Cacho and Ana Claudia Talancón; "El Atentado" (Dir. Jorge Fons); "El Baile de San Juan" (Dir. Francisco Athié); "Qué Pena tu Vida" (Dir. Luis Eduardo Reyes); "Como Novio de Pueblo" (Dir. Joe Rendón); "Perdida" (Dir. Jorge Michel Grau); "Todo lo invisible" (Dir. Mariana Chenillo) and "Invitación a un asesinato" (Dir. J. M. Cravioto).

In television he has worked in popular productions such as "Niño Santo" (Canana Films), "El Capitán Camacho" (Fox Telecolombia), "Señorita Pólvora" (Telemundo); "El vato" (Endemol), "Rosario Tijeras" (Sony Pictures Television), "El Candidato" (Prime Video), "Midnight Family' (Apple TV) and "El Colapso (ViX), among other productions for various platforms.

Along with his career in film and television, he has also developed his career in theater in plays such as "La Desobediencia de Marte", "El Corazón de la Materia", and "La Retirada"; and has explored the podcast format as part of "Quemar tu casa", an audioseries produced by Fabula.
