Jorge Laplace / Director / Writer

Jorge Laplace (1981, Jerez), a graduate in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Seville, Master in Screenwriting at the Autónoma de Barcelona, and Screenwriter Program at the New York Film Academy (NYC), is an award-winning screenwriter and director whose works "Alfred and Anna" (2013) and "30 years of Darkness" (2012) have been nominated for Best Animated Short Film and Best Documentary at the Goya Awards.

In 2013 Jorge was awarded the Andalusian Future Award, granted by Bankia and the Joly group, in the culture category. His work as a screenwriter accumulates more than 28 international awards and more than 200 selections in festivals such as Cannes Film Festival, San Sebastian, Malaga, IDFA Amsterdam or Brooklyn Film Fest.

"23 Disparos" (2017), his first feature documentary as director, premiered at the Malaga Film Festival, has won the Iris Award from the Television Academy, the Imagenera Award for Best Documentary at the Seville European Film Festival the Best Documentary at the Asecan Awards and the New Andalusian Film Festival. Its premiere on television was a national trending topic.

"Equipo D: Los códigos olvidados" (2019), his next feature film as director, co-produced with TVE1, premiered at the Seminci in Valladolid, has been selected in a multitude of festivals (Malaga, Rizoma, Seville) and was awarded an Asecan Award for Andalusian Cinema.

The docuseries "Carolina Marín: puedo porque pienso que puedo" (2020) is her next project, produced by Atresmedia Studios for Amazon Prime, about the Olympic champion and three-time badminton world champion. She recently finished filming a documentary in Mexico and "100 días con la Tata" (100 days with Tata) has just been released in Spain.
