Gabriela Tagliavini has written and directed nine feature films, several TV series and has won several awards as best director in international film festivals. Two of the films she directed opened #1 at the box office in Mexico, the film she made in Madrid is the most watched Spanish film on Netflix Spain, she directed a film for Sony that was #1 on Amazon Prime in Mexico and then her feature film was #1 on Netflix in 20 countries and one of the top 10 most watched films on Netflix in 86 countries.
For her first feature film "The Woman Every Man Wants", Tagliavini was recognized as best director and was selected for several film festivals including New York, the official selection of the Munich Film Festival, Germany and Mar del Plata, Argentina. Her second film, "Ladies' Night", produced by Disney/Buena Vista, became the #1 film at the box office in Mexico in all of 2004, won 3 MTV awards and its Sony soundtrack went Platinum in sales.
Her third feature film she directed for the Viacom/VH1/MTV company was titled "30 Days Until I'm Famous" and Madonna was the executive producer. For this film, Tagliavini was nominated for Best Director at the Alma Awards in the USA. Her fourth film "Sin Hombres" stars Eva Longoria, Christian Slater, Kate del Castillo, Oscar Nunez, Maria Conchita Alonso and Paul Rodriguez. This film was distributed in 25 countries around the world.
His fifth feature film, "Border Run" starred Sharon Stone, Miguel Rodarte, Giovanna Zacarias and Manolo Cardona. It premiered in the USA on STARZ and in 15 other countries and had its premiere at the Guadalajara Film Festival. It was nominated for best film of the year by the Imagen Awards (at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel, where the Golden Globes are held). Her sixth feature film, "Como cortar a tu patán", starring Christopher Ukerman, Mariana Treviño, Sebastian Zurita and Camila Sodi, premiered number one at the Mexican box office in October 2017. For this film Gabriela was nominated for Best Director and Best Film at the Imagen Awards.
Her next film as writer and director, "A Pesar de Todo," starred Blanca Suarez, Amaia Salamaca, Belén Cuesta, Macarena Garcia, Marisa Paredes, Carlos Barden, Maxi Iglesias, Juan Diego and Rossy de Palma. It was released worldwide in 190 countries in May 2019 and was the most watched film of the year in Spanish language on Netflix Spain.
As a screenwriter, Gabriela did the adaptation of Luis Buñuel's classic film "Belle de Jour" and a re-write of the film "Cantinflas". She directed Mike Tyson for AMBI Group. Gabriela Tagliavini holds a degree in Film Directing from the American Film Institute (AFI) in Los Angeles and a Master's degree from the American Film Institute (AFI) in Los Angeles.
