Fernando Bonilla

Mexican actor, director and playwright. With formal studies from the Instituto de Cine Madrid, Spain.

He is founder of the theater company Puño de Tierra, directing more than twenty plays. Highlights include "Almacenados"; "A ocho columnas", winner of the ACPT Award for Best Play of the Year (2018); "Los Ingrávidos"; "Algo en Fuenteovejuna", winner of the ACPT Award for Best Version of a Classic (2018); and "Mercan", produced in collaboration with the Cervantino Festival.

As an actor, he has participated in productions such as "3 días en Mayo", "Una bestia en mi jardín" and "Entre Pancho Villa y una mujer desnuda"; he has also presented his work in events such as the Cervantino Festival, the Muestra Nacional de Teatro, the Festival de Teatro de Manizales, the Noche de los Teatreros (Madrid), the Sleepless Night Festival (Miami), the Encuentro de Teatro Joven (Buenos Aires) and the Festival Iberoamericano (Bogota). He has also written almost a dozen plays, including "Otro Mar", "Masiosare" and "El Corrido del Rey Lear", nominated for the Metro Awards in the category of Best Play (2023).

In cinema, he has participated in films such as "Estanislao" (Dir. Alejandro Guzmán Álvarez); "Perdidos en la noche" (Dir. Amat Escalante), presented at the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival; "Mejor viuda que mal acompañada" (Dir. Magaby García); and "El Norte sobre el Vacío" (Dir. Alejandra Márquez Abella), work that earned him an Ariel Award nomination in the category of Best Male Performance (2023).

In television, he is part of projects such as "Narcos: Mexico" (Netflix), "Un Extraño Enemigo" (Amazon Prime Video), "Harina" (Amazon Prime Video), "Marea Alta" (ViX) and "Ella Camina Sola" (ViX).
