Elena Anaya

The magnetism that Elena Anaya exerts on any stage is immediate and scorching. No wonder that shortly after starting her acting studies she was chosen by director Alfonso Ungría to star in "Africa", alongside Imanol Arias. From that moment on, the invitations to work were not long in coming and films such as "¿De qué se ríen las mujeres?" (1997), "Lágrimas negras" (1998), "Finisterre, donde termina el mundo" (1998) and "El invierno de las anjanas" (2000) arrived. All her previous work connected her with director Julio Medem, who chose Elena Anaya to play a provocative nanny in "Lucia y el sexo", a film that won her the 2002 Best Supporting Actress award from the Spanish Actors' Union, as well as a Goya Award nomination in the same category. Medem and the Palencia-born actress worked again in 2010 in "La habitación en Roma", which gave her a Goya Award nomination for Best Leading Actress. Agustín Díaz Yanes invited her to work in "Bendito infierno" (2001), alongside Victoria Abril and Penélope Cruz, and then immediately afterwards she was directed by Pedro Almodóvar in "Hable con ella". Almodóvar and Anaya teamed up again in 2011 when he gave her the leading role in "La piel que habito", which won her a Goya Award in 2012 for Best Leading Actress. Thanks to her extensive experience and the quality of her acting work, Elena Anaya has taken solid steps in the Hollywood industry. She was seen in "Van Helsing: Monster Hunter" (2004), alongside Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale, and in "Dead Fish" (2005), where she shared credits with Gary Oldman.

One of the projects that undoubtedly catapulted her to the international scene was the super production of "Wonder Woman", in which she was seen alongside Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Robin Wright. She was also seen sharing the bill with the world famous actor Bryan Cranston, famous for his role in the series Breaking Bad, in "The Infiltrator". She will soon be seen under the direction of Woody Allen in "Rifkin's Festival".

Her extensive filmography includes a couple of Mexican projects such as "La habitación azul" (2002), by Walter Doehner, and "Todos están muertos" (2014), a film in which she was directed by Beatriz Sanchís and in which she shared credits with Angélica Aragón. This film earned her a new Goya Award nomination for Best Leading Actress. Undoubtedly Elena Anaya is an actress to follow closely.
