Daniel Giménez Cacho

Actor, director and social activist. He is one of the greatest references in the film, television and theater industry, winner six times of the statuette awarded by the Mexican Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

He began his career working with renowned directors, both inside and outside Mexico. One of his first projects was the suspense and horror series "La Hora Marcada", in which he coincided with directors whose careers were also on the rise.

The film "Sólo con tu pareja" (Dir. Alfonso Cuarón) is one of the titles that began to make him known on a larger scale within the film scene, followed by "Cronos" (Dir. Guillermo del Toro), a film that would earn him his first Ariel Award (1993).

From there came projects such as "El Callejón de los Milagros" (Dir. Jorge Fons); "Profundo Carmesí" (Dir. Arturo Ripstein), with which he won his second Ariel Award (1997); "Aro Tolbukhin: En la mente del asesino" (Dir. Isaac Pierre Racine), one of the candidates to represent Mexico at the Oscars (2003); and "La Mala Educación", under the direction of Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar.

His vast filmography includes other memorable titles such as "Arráncame la Vida" (Dir. Roberto Sneider), work with which he won the Canacine Award as Mexican Actor of the Year (2008); "El Infierno" (Dir. Luis Estrada); "Colosio: El Asesinato" (Dir. Carlos Bolado), winning with this participation the Silver Biznaga for Best Actor at the Malaga Film Festival (2013); "Nicotina" (Dir. Hugo Rodríguez), with which he won his fourth Ariel Award (2004); "Chicuarotes" (Dir. Gael García Bernal); "El Diablo Entre las Piernas" (Dir. Arturo Ripstein); "Blancanieves" (Dir Pablo Berger); "Zama" (Dir. Lucrecia Martel); "Bardo, falsa crónica de unas cuantas verdades" (Dir. Alejandro González Iñárritu), protag awarded with the Ariel Award for Best Actor (2023); "Familia" (Dir. Rodrigo García) and "Fiesta en la madriguera" (Dir. Manolo Caro), both titles released through Netflix.

Giménez Cacho's talent transcends the big screen and he has achieved equally outstanding performances in both theater and television. He has staged numerous productions at Mexico City's Teatro El Milagro, while in television he has been behind projects such as "Crónica de Castas" (Canal Once); "Club de Cuervos," Netflix's first original Spanish-language series; and other productions such as "¿Quién mató a Sara?" (Netflix), "Aquí en la Tierra" (FOX) and "Un Extraño Enemigo" (Prime Video).

With a career spanning more than thirty years, Giménez Cacho has received several awards in Mexico and abroad, including six Ariel Awards, two Canacine Awards, the ACPT Award, the ACE Award in New York and nominations for the Platinum and Goya Awards.
