Carlos Lenin / Director

M.A, Filmmaker and Berlinale Talent generation 2019. He studied film directing with Abbas Kiarostami and graduated from the National School of Cinematographic Arts of the UNAM with a specialization in directing and cinematography. Screenwriter, director and editor of "La Paloma y El Lobo" which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival 2019 where it won the Swatch Art Peace Hotel Award. The film participated in NEW DIRECTORS / NEW FILMS at Lincoln Center and MoMA, won Best Mexican Film at FICUNAM 2020 and Best Mexican Film at Los Cabos 2019. It also received 4 Ariel Award nominations.

In 2021 he premiered his short film "The Longest Dream I Can Remember" at the Sundance Film Festival. In this short film he participated as screenwriter, director and editor. The short film was officially selected at international festivals such as Leeds, Zinebi, Morelia and the Cannes Critics' Week. With this short film, he won the Ariel award for best fiction short film 2022 by the Mexican Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and won 5 awards at Shorts Mexico.

Prior to this, his short film "24° 51' Latitud Norte" where he participates as screenwriter, director and editor received the Orona Award at the San Sebastian Festival 2016. He was also nominated for the Ariel Award for Best Fiction Short Film and won 5 awards at Shorts Mexico.

He is currently developing his feature film "Dios y la Cumbia del Diablo" which won the VFF award and the WCF Audience Strategy Award at the Berlinale Talent 2023 Co-Production Market. Carlos Lenin was part of the Story Lab during the 21st edition of FICM with the script of Dios y la Cumbia del Diablo.
